The Role You Will Have

As a Director of Development (DOD) at Hope Rescue Mission (HRM), your role will mainly be externally facing. You will be the primary person connecting with and caring for our donors, and that’s a big deal. But you’ll also have an opportunity to manage internal resources (people) to help increase that donor base.

A Snapshot of Your Duties

Maintain an annual Donor Development Plan with an accompanying calendar including social media, special events, and direct mail pieces.

Thoughtfully engage with and care for our donors to inform, stabilize, and increase our donor base.

Build relationships with our community by reaching out to churches, businesses, community groups, local government, and other stakeholders, with the goal of increasing support for HRM’s work.

Plan fundraising activities and execute with support from the team. Oversee our marketing resources to increase our donor base and raise funds for special initiatives.

Oversee the pursuit and maintenance of grants, to include the maintaining of relationships with foundations and foundation leaders.

Research market conditions in local, regional, and national areas, gathering information to determine potential promotion of all HRM’s services.

Generally, raise awareness of HRM’s work, goals, and financial needs.

Skills and Attributes for Success

  • Ability to work independently with broad direction, ability to work effectively with a wide range of personalities.
  • Professional yet approachable demeanor, to present HRM well in all aspects of communication with others. Must be a people-person.
  • Solid planning, administrative and organizational skills, time management skills.
  • Experience with managing an annual budget – preferred.
  • Experience with grants and grant processed – preferred
  • Alignment with HRM statement of faith and vision and values
  • Desire to learn and grow. You will be stretched.

Education and Experience

  • A relevant college degree and/or equivalent years of experience in ministry, marketing and administrative work.
  • 1-3 years management experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer software including Google Suites, website programs, social media.
  • Experience with financial tracking, and creative software such as Canva-preferred
  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to serve the Lord in rescue ministry.
