Hope Rescue Mission desires to be a volunteer-driven ministry. We have a God-given call to be a uniting place for the Body of Christ as we engage in the mission of God in Western Montana. Therefore, the volunteer coordinator will minister with HRM and alongside the Body of Christ in partnering with Western Montana to serve, rescue and transform those in need by the grace of Jesus Christ. The Volunteer Coordinator must demonstrate God’s heart for serving and His heart for those we serve.

Reports to: Director of Operations (direct report) & Executive Director
Job Type: Part time (10-20hrs a week)

The volunteer coordinator will develop and oversee volunteer programs by recruiting and cultivating relationships in a manner consistent with the mission and values of Hope Rescue Mission. Coordinate with all Directors of HRM regarding volunteer orientations, placement within HRM, and scheduling.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively recruit “High Impact” volunteers to support the programs, events and mission of Hope Rescue Mission.
  • Support volunteers through orientation, 45 and 90 day interviews, workshops, and by all available training.
  • Able to function effectively with the executive team of HRM.
  • Able to match volunteers with opportunities within their skill set.
  • Assess volunteer fit, gifts and talents in areas of responsibilities as applicable.
  • Acted as a liaison between staff, volunteers and interns.
  • Develop the internship program and recruit internships.
  • Implement and assist the recognition program for staff and volunteers, i.e. “I caught you in the act”.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with varied groups.
  • The ability to communicate and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles.
  • The ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities.
  • Facilitate and schedule volunteer orientations monthly.
  • Keeping all volunteers appraised of the scope of HRM.
  • Organize training as well as on-the-job training.
  • Accomplished in team building skills. Building and maintaining an up to date database of volunteers Hope Rescue Mission partners with Western Montana to serve, rescue and transform
  • Those in need by the grace of Jesus Christ.
  • Update and maintain all volunteer activities on the HRM calendar.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, and emailing applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize while multitasking.
  • Able to work within guidelines with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled in working with and promoting positive interaction amongst multiple teams and personalities.
  • Formal education: Associate of Arts degree in Business Management, Human Resources desired, and/or experience in a similar field.
  • Working knowledge of non-profit organizations.
  • Excellent team building and communication skills.
  • Experience in volunteerism.
  • An active member in a local Bible-believing Christian church.
