About Our Drop-In Center

The Drop-In Center at Hope Rescue Mission serves as a first point of connection for individuals and families facing urgent, short-term needs. Through partnerships with local churches, community organizations, and generous private donors, we are able to provide resources that help fill critical gaps for people across Western Montana.

As a recognized front-door access point, the Drop-In Center helps individuals navigate available services and avoid unnecessary duplication of assistance. Each person who comes through our doors receives a thoughtful intake process that helps identify their immediate needs while also mapping out a practical path forward.

Our coordinators work one-on-one with individuals to explore solutions that can stabilize their situation as quickly as possible. This often includes identifying opportunities for people to self-resolve challenges, negotiating payment arrangements, enrolling in assistance programs, and finding creative solutions that prevent small crises from becoming long-term hardships.

Making a Difference

We partner with the Missoula Coordinated Entry System and the 10 year plan to end homelessness. We work with other organizations to fill the gap and help those who don’t qualify for government services. Working together means a greater collective impact… because the goal is to help all who are in need!

Josephine’s Story

Josephine came to the Drop-In Center in need of $1,200 in rental assistance. She and her husband had been staying in a hotel that was in the process of transitioning into apartment housing. Although Josephine had been working, illness forced her to stop temporarily, leaving them struggling to cover their housing costs.

Our team asked Josephine to obtain a lease agreement from her landlord so we could begin exploring assistance options. Despite battling cancer and facing significant health challenges, Josephine remained determined throughout the process. She worked alongside our staff every step of the way—completing paperwork, gathering documentation, and following through on each request needed to move forward.

Josephine’s perseverance was remarkable. She carefully wrote out a detailed explanation of her situation and why she needed assistance. Because she did not have access to the internet, our staff helped type and submit her story so it could be shared with potential partners and resources.

Through these efforts, we were able to secure $800 in rental assistance from community partners. The remaining amount was provided through the Hope Rescue Mission Drop-In Center and our partnering churches, allowing Josephine and her husband to remain housed during an incredibly difficult season.

During this time, our team also completed a housing assessment that will help determine Josephine’s eligibility for long-term, stable housing options moving forward.

Josephine’s determination, resilience, and willingness to keep moving forward—despite serious illness—left a lasting impression on everyone who worked with her. We are incredibly proud of her perseverance and continue to pray for her as she moves toward greater stability and hope for the future.

Brittney’s Story

Brittney came to Hope Rescue Mission seeking help with $1,100 in rent as she worked to rebuild her life. New to Missoula, she was determined to make a fresh start after completing treatment and entering a sober living program.

Shortly after arriving, Brittney secured employment and began taking the necessary steps to stabilize her situation. She showed incredible initiative—actively searching for resources, completing applications, and working closely with our team to find solutions.

One of those applications resulted in a $600 grant from a nonprofit partner, helping cover a large portion of her rent. Through collaboration between the Hope Rescue Mission Drop-In Center and our church partners, the remaining $400 was provided, allowing Brittney to remain in stable housing as she continued moving forward.

Brittney expressed deep gratitude for the support she received and continues to work hard in her recovery journey. Her determination to build a new life is an inspiring reminder of how the right support at the right time can help someone move from crisis toward stability and hope.

What is Incarnational Ministry?

We are called to be witnesses of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. This work is not about us — not our reputation, our church, or our organization. It is about Him and the people He loves. When we serve in His way and for His glory, a faithful reputation will follow — not for ourselves, but for Christ to be seen and known. We are not the saviors. We are witnesses to The Savior.

This is where it begins. Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). He entered our world. He stepped into our reality. The incarnation is not only one of the most profound truths of the Gospel — it is our model for ministry.

Just as Christ came near to us, we are called to go and come near to others — to step into their world as they are, where they are. Not to control or coerce, but to faithfully bear witness by being present. The power of our witness is found in our “with-ness” — walking alongside, offering hope, and reflecting Christ through relationship.
