Dear Friends and Partners,
We ask for your prayers as Hope Rescue Mission enters an important season of transition and faith.
Over the past few years, God has opened doors for us to serve our community through partnerships with local government, churches, businesses, and faithful supporters. We are deeply grateful for these opportunities and for the many lives that have been impacted through them.
As our Board of Directors has sought the Lord regarding the future of Hope Rescue Mission, we have been reminded of the example of Daniel. Daniel faithfully served within government with excellence, integrity, and respect. He honored earthly authorities whenever possible. Yet when obedience to God and the expectations of earthly authorities came into conflict, Daniel remained faithful to the Lord above all else.
That example has guided our prayerful discernment during this season.
After much prayer and discernment, our Board of Directors has unanimously decided that by October 1, 2026, Hope Rescue Mission will transition from a government-supported ministry to a donor-supported ministry.
This decision is not driven by criticism or a lack of gratitude. We believe God used government partnerships and grants for a season to help us serve our neighbors and expand our impact. We remain thankful for that season and for those who partnered alongside us.
As our current partnerships and agreements have evolved, we have become increasingly convinced that preserving complete freedom to carry out our Christ-centered mission must remain our highest priority. Through prayer and discernment, we believe God is leading Hope Rescue Mission into a new chapter marked by greater dependence on Him, deeper partnership with the local Church, and complete freedom to fulfill the mission He has entrusted to us.
As current grant contracts expire, we have chosen not to pursue future government funding opportunities. As a result, we will conclude our participation in TSOS (Temporary Safe Outdoor Shelter), the Drop-In Center, and PATH programs by October 1, 2026. This transition represents the departure of several beloved staff members and a shift away from more than $1 million in annual funding.
Additionally, unrelated to government funding, we will be closing our Rescued Thrift Store on July 31 and refocusing our thrift enterprise through Hope Thrift Boutique.
These decisions have not been made lightly. Our hearts are heavy for those affected, and we ask you to pray fervently for our staff, volunteers, community partners, and every individual impacted by these changes.
While some programs are ending, our mission remains unchanged. We will continue our weekly street outreach efforts, building relationships, caring for those in need, praying with people, and sharing the hope of Jesus Christ.
Our mission has always been about more than meeting physical needs. We provide practical assistance because Jesus Christ first stepped into our world and rescued us. We believe true and lasting transformation is found through Him.
We believe God used government partnerships for a season, and we are grateful for that season. We also believe He is now leading us into a future where Hope Rescue Mission is sustained by His provision and empowered to carry out Gospel ministry with complete freedom to remain faithful to the mission He has entrusted to us.
We remain committed to honoring and respecting governing authorities, community leaders, and the many partners who have worked alongside us. At the same time, we recognize that our first responsibility is to faithfully follow God’s calling for this ministry. As the apostles declared in Acts 5:29, “We must obey God rather than men.”
We do not know every detail of what the future holds, but we are confident in the One who holds it. The God who has faithfully provided for Hope Rescue Mission in the past will continue to lead, guide, and provide in the days ahead.
Thank you for your continued prayers, encouragement, and partnership as we step forward in faith and trust God for what lies ahead.
Faith-Forward,
