Thrift by the Pound for a Purpose! For the past few years, Hope Thrift Boutique has run a textile baling operation out of a warehouse at 1835 North Avenue West, taking excess clothing donations from our boutique as well as from several other locally owned thrift stores and compressing them into 1,000 pound “bales” to be purchased by wholesalers for a few cents per pound. In 2023, we began to wonder how we could be better stewards of these items. We took some of the best of these clothing items to “treasure hunt” pop-up sales at CityLife Community Center, selling them by the pound, to see if Missoula would have any interest in this type of store- and Missoula loved it!
Encouraged by customer feedback to make our by-pound sales happen more frequently, we began to transform our warehouse into a retail space, and RESCUED opened to the public in September of 2024! Open on Tuesdays from 10AM to 5:00PM, you can find a vast array of clothing for $1 per pound, shoes and accessories for $1 each, and little bit of everything else for $0.25 each.
