Overview:

Direct the financial operations, accounting functions, and fiscal stewardship for Hope Rescue Mission (HRM). Responsible for ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with state and federal regulations, and providing strategic financial oversight to support the mission. Reports to the Executive Director. Full-time Position (30 hours).

Responsibilities:

  • Manage budgeting, accounting, cash flow, and internal controls to ensure the integrity of HRM’s fiscal health.
  • Oversee accounts payable and payroll coordination, ensuring all financial obligations are met with precision.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and fund allocation across all ministry programs and departments.
  • Support grant management, audits, and board reporting by providing transparent and timely financial data.
  • Maintain financial systems, records, and policies to safeguard HRM’s assets and mission.

Job Duties:

  • Review and approve expenses, reimbursements, and transactions while managing full-cycle accounts payable.
  • Categorize and reconcile bank and investment accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO) to ensure real-time accuracy.
  • Enter and monitor invoices, deposits, and transfers, including the entry of the approved annual budget into QBO.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly and periodic financial reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate year-end close, tax filings, and CPA correspondence.
  • Manage day-to-day payroll entry and oversight of payroll payables
  • Maintain book accuracy via procedural monthly and annual journal entries.
  • Collaborate with the Development department to provide financial documentation for grant invoice submissions.
  • Oversee document management by storing financial records and monitoring document retention schedules.
  • Maintain account integrity by reconciling stale-dated checks and monitoring automatic payments.
  • These duties and responsibilities are not exclusive.

Qualifications:

  • Refined professionalism in handling sensitive financial data and representing HRM to auditors and financial partners.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills, with a high level of mathematical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills for budget tracking and fiscal strategy execution.
  • Ability to work independently to meet strict filing deadlines while collaborating effectively with a diverse team.
  • Proven ability in financial management, stewardship, and accountability.
  • Agreement with HRM statement of faith, vision, and values.
    Collaborative communication style to evaluate cross-departmental financial needs.

Education and Experience:

  • A relevant college degree in Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent years of experience in high-level financial management are required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance management, preferably in a non-profit or multi-entity environment.
  • Proficiency with computer software, including Google Suite and professional accounting/financial tracking software (e.g., QuickBooks).
  • Mature Christian with a strong faith and ability to lead as a Disciple of Christ. Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to serve the Lord in rescue ministry.
